STWA in Talks Regarding Product Development and Technology Commercialization in Three Major Markets
In Discussions With Potential Partners and Customers in Key Multi-Billion Dollar Markets Covering Crude Oil Pipelines, Land-Based Diesel Engine Technology and Marine Diesel Technology
SANTA BARBARA, CA--(Marketwire - March 24, 2010) - Save the World Air, Inc. (
"We have identified and are building relationships in three key multi-billion dollar markets: crude oil pipelines, land-based diesel engine technology and marine diesel technology. By forming strategic and synergistic partnerships with organizations that can help bring products based on our technologies to market quickly, we can fast-track our sales efforts," commented Mr. Cecil Bond Kyte, Chairman and CEO of Save The World Air, Inc.
STWA's Applied Oil Technology [AOT] is a new solution for oil pipeline operators to provide supplemental viscosity reduction. Current technology uses heat to raise the temperature of the oil to reduce viscosity, and/or introduces some form of Drag Reducing Agent, such as kerosene that can affect the marketability of the oil. These methods enable the oil to thin out enough to allow the pumps to move them through the pipelines. ELEKTRA, as compared to other methods of viscosity reduction, has a lower cost.
Industrial Info Resources stated in February, 2010, that more than $10 billion will be spent on pipeline construction in the next two years in the U.S. and Canada. Movement of crude through these pipelines can be increased with AOT.
Mr. Kyte continued, "In the crude oil pipeline marketplace, we have been developing and nurturing relationships with the major pipeline operators as well as the companies that provide crude oil pump technology to these pipeline operators. The goal of these discussions is to license the technology to a crude oil pump and/or pipeline manufacturer with the team capability to deploy the product to the pipeline operator."
For land and marine-based diesel engines, STWA's ELEKTRA reduces the viscosity of diesel fuel by aggregating the suspended particulate matter by means of an electrorheological field. In layman's terms, thinner fuels create smaller droplets, which burn more quickly and completely when sprayed into the combustion chamber. This enables the same fuel to release more power and less particulate matter into the air (commonly known as hydrocarbons), enabling the operator to use less fuel to achieve the same results.
Demand for diesel and hence the demand for diesel efficiency technology is growing worldwide. For the week ending March 12, 2010, U.S. Diesel fuel production averaged 3.8 million barrels per day, an annualized rate of 1.4 billion barrels, or $172 billion at $2.96 a gallon. In January, 2009, ExxonMobil, Motiva and Marathon Oil and Valero, announced they would increase diesel output.
"The land-based diesel engine marketplace is a $6 billion aftermarket opportunity for STWA," according to Mr. Kyte. "There are 2.1 million tractor trailers operating in the United States. The overall market for this segment also includes diesel locomotives, generators and automobiles. To get to market quickly in this sector, we have identified and are in discussions with key manufacturers of diesel fuel injectors and diesel fuel delivery systems. The goal is to license the technology to one, or all of these companies."
In addition, STWA has been in ongoing discussions with the end users of fuel injector and fuel delivery enhancement products including major diesel truck fleet operators. These potential customers continue to express interest that once the commercialized version is available, they will be interested in purchasing the product.
Mr. Kyte added, "Additionally, we recently recognized a massive opportunity for the application of ELEKTRA to marine diesel engines. Approximately 85% of all the world's goods are transported by a fleet of 90,000 cargo ships that burn diesel and marine fuels. Their efficiency can also be improved by our Elektra technology."
STWA continues to have ongoing discussions with both the U.S. Navy and military contractors who supply the Navy. Management is also talking to manufacturers who sell fuel pumps to military, cargo and cruise line operators.
"As we highlighted in a previous press release, the Department of Defense (DOD) has already tripled spending on energy research and development programs to $1.2 billion over the past two years, plus an additional $300 million from the federal stimulus bill. We are optimistic that they will seriously consider ELEKTRA, and realize its cost-benefit advantages when compared to other potential technologies," said Mr. Kyte.
"At the end of the day, we believe that a broad application of our ELEKTRA technology, across vital industries and within the military, could reduce our country's dependence on oil, and lead to increased energy security," concluded Mr. Kyte. "By installing the ELEKTRA on an internal combustion engine, regardless of size, and whether it runs on gasoline, diesel or bio-diesel, on land or at sea, we have proven that measurable reductions in fuel consumption can be achieved. And, the resulting emissions are reduced while improving performance."
